RenderBlue Hour
Slate blue, putty and rust, with the Celeste lit warm.
A classic bedroom in an older Dubai apartment, at the blue hour: the last cool light at the window and everything else falling into shadow. The Celeste pendant becomes the main light, and birch ply in Natural warms the room around it.
The pieces
The Celeste is a drum of flat birch-ply fins set like the spokes of a wheel, 75 cm across, with three bulbs hanging inside. Lit, it throws warm light out between the fins; unlit, it is a piece of joinery hanging in the room. Beside the bed stands the Penelope, with one flat door, a circle of thin slots cut through it, a shelf inside and a slim base. At 57 cm tall, its top sits about level with most mattresses, where a bedside table should be.
How to get the look
- Paint the ceiling and the top of the walls one colour and finish it with a thin line. A tall room feels calmer and closer.
- Set a cool wall against warm accents: rust, putty and the honey of Natural ply.
- Let one lamp do the work. A pendant over the foot of the bed lights a bedroom more softly than a ceiling light.
- Keep the bedside small and closed, so the clutter goes behind the door.
Sizes and finishes
Every piece is cut, assembled and finished in our Dubai workshop when you order it, usually in 10–14 working days, in Natural, Sand, Smoke or Snow. If your space needs a size we don't list, ask us: it is often possible.
The room is imagined and rendered. The pieces in it are rendered from photographs of the real pieces, in the finish named; tap a piece to see photographs of the real thing.
