Our story
Yes, we deliver kids' floor beds to Abu Dhabi. Every Sofi Floor Bed is made to order in our own Dubai workshop, and delivered across the UAE, including Abu Dhabi island, the mainland communities and Al Ain. It arrives assembled, takes a standard 90 × 200 cm single mattress, and comes in four finishes. This guide covers how ordering from a Dubai workshop works when you live in the capital, how to choose between the finishes for an Abu Dhabi interior, and what changes between a villa room and an apartment room.
How ordering a floor bed from a Dubai workshop works in Abu Dhabi
We are a family-run workshop, not a warehouse. Nothing is made ahead and nothing is imported in a container; each piece is cut, sanded, sealed and finished for the person who ordered it. For an Abu Dhabi family, the process looks like this.
- Choose the piece and the finish online. The Sofi Montessori floor bed comes in Natural, Snow, Sand or Smoke. Prices on the site are in AED and include 5% VAT — the price you see is the price you pay; a VAT invoice is issued with every order.
- We confirm the lead time. The current lead time is shown at checkout and confirmed when you order. If you have a date in mind, a new baby or a move, tell us on WhatsApp before you order and we will tell you honestly if we can meet it.
- The bed is made in Dubai. Designed by Viara, built by Adam and the team. Ask and we will send photos of the piece in progress.
- Delivery to your door. We deliver across the UAE. Delivery options for Abu Dhabi are shown at checkout. The bed travels assembled and wrapped.
- Set-up. The Sofi Floor Bed arrives assembled, so set-up is placing it and putting the mattress in. Assembly guidance is included with pieces that need it.
Two practical notes for the capital. If you live in a tower on Al Reem Island or along the Corniche, check the lift dimensions and tell us if access is via a service lift; the bed is a single assembled piece. And if your building requires a delivery permit or a move-in slot, arrange it before the delivery date so the van is not turned away at the gate.
Villa or apartment: setting up a floor bed in an Abu Dhabi home
Abu Dhabi families tend to live in one of two kinds of home, and the floor bed sits differently in each.
Villa rooms
In Khalifa City, Al Raha Gardens, Saadiyat, Yas, Al Reef or Mohammed Bin Zayed City, children's rooms are usually generous: high ceilings, a large window, tile or marble underfoot, and an AC vent somewhere in the ceiling. Space is not the constraint. The constraint is that a big room can feel empty around a low bed. Two things help. Place the bed against a wall, not floating, with a rug alongside it, so the bed reads as a corner of the room rather than a raft in the middle. And bring the storage down to the child's height around it: a Sofi kids' bookcase beside the bed and a low Sofi kids' wardrobe on the opposite wall give a large room a scale the child can use. Villas also mean stairs, so a gate at the top of the staircase matters once the child can leave the bed.
Apartment rooms
On Al Reem Island, Al Raha Beach, Masdar City or in the older Corniche buildings, the children's room is often compact and sometimes shared. A floor bed is the best thing that can happen to a small room: it is the lowest object in it, which makes the ceiling feel higher and the window bigger, and it leaves every wall free. Keep the rest of the furniture low too. The most important safety items in an apartment are the balcony door, the window restrictors and the blind cords; once the child sleeps on a floor bed, the whole room is theirs.
Finishes for Abu Dhabi interiors
All four finishes are the same sealed birch plywood. Natural is the birch as it is, sealed. The other three are water-based stains that colour the wood without hiding the grain; you can still see the figure of the ply through Snow, Sand and Smoke. Which one suits an Abu Dhabi room depends on what is already there.

A note on light. Abu Dhabi rooms with large west-facing windows get a lot of warm afternoon sun, which pulls Natural and Sand warmer and flatters Snow. North-facing rooms and rooms with blackout blinds are cooler, and Smoke can read darker than expected. If you are between two finishes, message us with a photo of the room and we will tell you which we would choose.
Sizes: what fits an Abu Dhabi room
The Sofi Floor Bed takes a standard 90 × 200 cm single mattress, which is the size sold everywhere in the UAE as a European single. That is the only dimension you need to plan around; the rest of the bed's dimensions are on the product page, as they are for every piece. Because we make to order rather than sell from a warehouse, sizing questions are worth asking rather than guessing. Seeing the pieces before you order
We do not have a showroom in Abu Dhabi. What we can do is show you the real thing in other ways: photos of finished pieces in each finish, close-ups of the edges and the grain, and workshop visits in Dubai by appointment if you are passing through Dubai. Many Abu Dhabi families order from the product photos and a WhatsApp conversation, and we would rather have that conversation than have you guess.
From the workshop
A bed going to Abu Dhabi is packed the same way as one going across Dubai, only more carefully, because it spends longer in the van. The finish is left to cure fully first, so nothing sticks to the film. Then the bed is wrapped in a moving blanket, then in film, with the corners padded, and it travels standing on its own feet rather than on its side so the slats and the rail take no load. The cut-out handles in the head and foot panels are what the delivery team carries it by, and they are also what your child will use to pull themselves up from the first morning. When it arrives, unwrap it, put the mattress in, and it is done.
